Job Summary:

Rakuten is looking for a Total Rewards Business Partner to join the International Total Rewards Team!

The Total Rewards Center of Excellence at Rakuten leads the implementation and administration of the Rewards Framework that support the Rakuten Compensation Philosophy.

The Total Rewards Business Partner will work in close partnership with our HR team and Business leaders on all compensation related matters. In this role, you will serve as a trusted and strategic partner on the Rakuten Compensation and Benefits programs from strategy through implementation. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of compensation and benefits principles, exceptional analytical capabilities, and extensive hands-on experience with Workday's advanced compensation modules.

Responsibilities:

Compensation Strategy & Design:

  • Lead the implementation and administration of the job architecture/job leveling and Rakuten Rewards Framework within the Region.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for all compensation programs (base, variable incentives, equity, long-term incentives).
  • Collaborate on the design/review of the Global Total Rewards Programs (job catalog, compensation structures, short and long-term incentive programs).
  • Analyze market dynamics and trends to understand implications on current practices, and present comprehensive analyses and recommendations on compensation program design, adjustments, and new initiatives.

Data Management and HRIS:

  • Act as a subject matter expert for Workday system, supporting the development, configuration, and implementation of Workday's core and advanced compensation modules.
  • Be part of the global annual compensation review process within Workday, including data validation, configuration, testing, and administration of merit, bonus, and stock option programs.
  • Partner closely with the HRIS team to ensure accurate and efficient maintenance of compensation data in Workday, including job profiles, salary ranges, bonus plans, and allowance plans.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Partner with HRPBs to continuously improve and streamline Total Rewards related communication to ensure that leaders and employees understand the value and philosophy of the total reward programs.
  • Collaborate with the HRIS and Talent Management centers of excellence on various initiatives optimizing processes and implementing IHR platform solutions.
  • Support the development and implementation of Workday core and advanced compensation modules to manage all aspects of compensation review, administration of merit, bonus, and stock option programs.
  • Participate in the preparation of the global annual compensation review process, this includes data validation and Workday Advanced Comp configuration and testing.
  • Assess current employee benefit plans and propose long-term enhancements to ensure our plans are competitive and consistent to support employee experience.
  • Assist cross-regional Total Rewards initiatives (Americas, APAC, EMEA).

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with 5 years of experience in Compensation and benefits roles with increasing levels of responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated advanced proficiency and hands-on experience with Workday Compensation and Workday Advanced Compensation modules, including configuration, testing, and annual cycle management.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., advanced formulas, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, macros, etc.).
  • Strong analytical skills and a keen attention to detail, with a preference for experience working with people data. Possesses excellent organizational abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a proven track record of managing multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced, global environment.
  • Ability to build productive relationships; excellent interpersonal, consulting and communication skills to work collaboratively across teams and diverse cultures in a matrix organization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively influence and consult with all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working in a global, multi-cultural, and matrixed organizational structure.
