Overview
The Principal Compensation Governance Consultant will be responsible for governance of all compensation and commission related activities (policy documentation, risk management, controls, compliance, audits, and action plans). Responsible for the timely, accurate, and comprehensive understanding of federal and state statutory and regulatory matters, related to Compensation programs and practices. Subject matter expert and advisor to the Compensation team and clients on compliance guidelines and promoting a risk-management oriented work environment.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a Compensation Governance program. Identify and create an operational control framework to ensure effectiveness and accuracy of compensation administration. Work closely with the Compensation team to ensure adherence to Comp Governance program and set up sustainable practices across the team to document Compensation policies, plans, and procedures. Develop oversight, testing, and monitoring processes to ensure consistency and readiness for internal audits. Complete gap analysis and partner with the correct stakeholders to identify and remediate any risk and compliance issues. Responsible for completing any internal audits and action plans.
- Maintains knowledge of significant current and proposed legislation (federal, state, and local) affecting Compensation to support strategic business objectives and ensure compliance. Works in close collaboration with internal and external legal counsel when legal opinion is required, and maintains close working relationships with key Paychex Risk Management team members. Analyzes and provides guidance to all Compensation personnel, as appropriate, with regard to federal, state, and local regulations to ensure Paychex compliance.
- Consults on any revisions to and/or new versions of compensation plans and practices to ensure changes and/or modifications are within legal and compliance guidelines and Paychex administrative procedures.
- Reviews and maintains documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. Recommends and coordinates changes to other Compensation documentation required by state and Federal mandates or other regulatory changes.
- Translate regulatory and policy governance/requirements into clear guidelines for clients.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or related discipline - Required
- Master's Degree - Preferred
- 8+ years exempt level experience in Human Resources with an emphasis on risk, controls, and compliance.
Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $111,300 to $174,900 annually. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the Talent Acquisition & Onboarding position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
