A Day in the Life

Medtronic is searching for a passionate and talented professional to join our Compensation team. In this role, you will serve as a member of the Total Rewards team and act as a key business partner and advisor for the organization. You will contribute to the assessment and development of Medtronic’s incentive plans (including sales incentive plans), compensation analytics, reporting, and strategies. You will provide thought leadership and form strong partnerships with the Finance, Human Resources, and Operating Unit Leadership teams on all matters regarding compensation. As part of the role, you will interact with various levels of management and influence employee engagement and retention through compensation and rewards programs. Subject matter expertise, analytical, and consultation skills will be important competencies for a successful candidate.

This position can reside in one of our US Medtronic office locations or work remote.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Facilitates all aspects of incentive compensation programs from design and analysis to reviews, approvals and execution

  • Partners with Human Resources, Finance and Sales management to develop competitive initiatives to drive business strategies

  • Provides guidance and makes recommendations to front line managers and HR Business Partners on all compensation issues and interprets laws regulating compensation practices

  • Analyzes incentive performance and program effectiveness

  • Develops compensation reporting and reviews incentive plan health

  • Creates and communicates incentive plan documents

  • Conducts surveys and studies labor markets to determine compensation trends

  • Analyzes jobs, and reviews job descriptions and specifications

  • Applies job evaluation techniques to establish equitable compensation rates within the organization as compared with rates in industry

  • Partners with Sales Compensation Administration on interpretation and administration of Sales Incentive Plans and Special Incentives

  • May prepare and deliver employee communications and training programs

MUST HAVE: MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years of compensation experience or advanced degree with 8+ years of compensation experience

NICE TO HAVE:

  • Experience supporting a Sales organization

  • Experience developing and supporting broad-based incentive programs

  • Prior Medtronic work experience

  • Knowledge expertise in program design, communication, implementation and administration

  • Experience providing support to one or more client groups including planning activities, communication activities, program support, and problem resolution

  • Highly collaborative style, flexibility, and strong team orientation

  • Experience with mathematical, statistical or quantitative analysis techniques and tools

  • Ability to collaborate with and influence decision making at many levels within the organization

  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills

  • Talent for facilitating and leading discussions and managing diverse opinions

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to understand the details, synthesize information while maintaining broader view

  • Advanced computer skills and data management/reporting systems including MS Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint), Enterprise Applications (e.g. Workday), Reporting, Workforce Analytics

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$145,600.00 - $218,400.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns. Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
