Work Arrangement
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.
The Role
The Senior Manager, Compensation Design, Analytics, and Benchmarking is a strategic leader responsible for designing and optimizing compensation programs that attract, retain, and motivate top talent. This role combines expertise in compensation strategy with analytics and market intelligence to ensure competitive and equitable pay practices across the organization. As a people leader, this role also includes managing and developing a team of compensation professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Compensation Design & Strategy
Lead the design and implementation of an innovative and competitive compensation system, including base pay, incentive plans, stock purchase plans, and recognition.
Develop and maintain job architecture frameworks and career pathing models.
Analytics & Insights
Conduct in-depth compensation analyses to support business decisions, including cost modeling, scenario planning, and ROI assessments.
Leverage data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities in compensation practices.
Benchmarking & Market Intelligence
Define GM’s benchmarking and market strategy.
Lead the participation in and analysis of compensation surveys to ensure market competitiveness.
Interpret market data and provide actionable insights and recommendations.
Maintain a deep understanding of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in compensation.
Governance & Compliance
Support executive compensation and board reporting as needed.
Partner with Legal and Compliance teams to manage risk and ensure audit readiness.
Additional Job Description
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive experience in compensation, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior advisory role.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel, HRIS systems, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
- Deep knowledge of compensation survey methodologies and market pricing tools (e.g., Radford, Mercer, WTW).
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- CCP certification is a plus.
